"Terra Firma: Contemporary Indiana Artists Paint the Landscape," "Dale Enochs: Recent Limestone Sculpture," and "Reflection: Recent Work by Yves Paquette"

Three diverse exhibitions of contemporary art are on view at DePauw University's Richard E. Peeler Art Center. The exhibits are free and open to the public, and the galleries are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. 4 p.m., and Sunday 1 5 p.m.

"Terra Firma: Contemporary Indiana Artists Paint the Landscape," explores current regional interpretations and representations of the landscape. Curated by DePauw professor of art Robert Kingsley, the exhibition features works by Barry Gealt, William Itter, Marc Jacobson, Tim Kennedy, Al Pounders and Bonnie Sklarski. The exhibition runs through October 7, 2003. "Dale Enochs: Recent Limestone Sculpture" features sculptures and drawings by Bloomington artist Dale Enochs. Enochs, who is the Lee G. Hall Distinguished Visiting Professor of Art at DePauw during the fall of 2003, is known for his large-scale limestone sculptures, many of which can be seen throughout Indiana. This exhibition opens on August 27 and runs through October 17, 2003. Special events include a slide lecture by the artist on Wednesday, September 24 from 4-6 p.m., followed by an opening reception. "Reflection: Recent Work by Yves Paquette" highlights recent ceramic and sculptural work by Georgia-based artist Yves Paquette, who creates installations in which objects function as universal, cross-cultural symbols and icons representing a multitude of everyday, societal experiences and relationships. Paquette, whose work has been exhibited widely throughout the United States, is professor of art at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia.

This exhibition opens September 3 and continues through October 5, 2003. Special events include a slide lecture by the artist on Wednesday, September 3 from 4-6 p.m., followed by an opening reception.
