Jean Brenner: Patterns of Tradition

Jean Brenner, Preparing for the Wedding

This exhibit of new work by Carmel artist Jean Brenner, will open on Saturday, August 30 in the Coburn Gallery at the Monterey Museum of Art. Inspired by a trip to rural India in 1995, Brenner pays tribute to the women artists within the Indian villages. The series of paintings allow us to experience a chronicle of traditional art forms these women produce reflecting the importance of their family and faith. This is a chance to see a rich and unique culture through the eyes of a sensitive artist.

The public is invited to a Reception for the Artists on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30 to 7:30. And a gallery talk at Meet the Artist Night on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00. The show continues from August 30 through November 23, 1997 at the Monterey Museum of Art, 559 Pacific Street in Monterey.
