American Landscapes from the MMA Permanent Collection
Mississippi Museum of Art proudly announces the opening of "American
Landscapes from the Permanent Collection," which features a selection
of paintings and works on paper from the MMA's growing Permanent Collection.
Spanning nearly 200 years, this exhibition continues to explore concepts
about American art and the American landscape evidenced in the recent presentation
of "The American West." The survey begins with early landscape
practitioners, progresses throughout the nineteenth century and continues
through the end of the twentieth century. In addition to oil paintings and
watercolors, the exhibition includes photographs and graphite and mixed-medium
drawings. (left: Joseph R. Meeker, Day on the Yazoo, 1885,
