The Monterey Museum of Art is featuring an exhibition which focuses on the work of four contemporary West Coast sculptors: Philip McCracken, Gwynn Murrill, Jack Zajac, and Dan Corbin. Sculpting in a variety of materials, methods, and styles, each artist works to both abstract and reveal the essence of natural forms. Form and Essence: Contemporary Sculpture is on exhibit in the Courtyard Gallery of the Monterey Museum of Art at La Mirada, 720 Via Mirada and will run through February 6, 2000.

Also on exhibit is Artists' Miniatures l999, a beloved tradition and annual fundraiser for almost 20 years, featuring generous donations of artwork from 117 artists representing all parts of Monterey County - and points beyond. The miniatures will be on display at the Monterey Museum of Art, Civic Center location at 559 Pacific Street in Monterey to January 2, 2000, after which time there will be a drawing. The proceeds from this special exhibit benefit the Museum's general operating budget. The group of 117 small scale works - collage, oils, watercolors, sculpture, pen and ink, and photography - represent artists from Carmel, Carmel Valley, Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Prunedale, Salinas, Santa Cruz, Sea Ranch, Sequel, Watsonville and Oakland. The dimensions of each original work of art are not to exceed 5" x 7".
