What's American Impressionist art?

First off:

Impressionism makes a fantastic impression on us!

Instead of smooth, detailed strokes, Impressionist paintings feature loose, visible brushwork. This technique helps to convey a sense of movement and spontaneity. We'e pretty spontaneous too. For instance, checking out this museum.

Impressionist artists, both overseas and America, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries were particularly interested in capturing the effects of light and color in their works. They sought to convey their immediate visual impressions rather than creating highly detailed, realistic depictions. This often resulted in paintings that appear more abstract when viewed up close but come together when seen from a distance.
