Phippen Museum Plans Silver Anniversary Western Art Show

 

The Phippen Museum, proudly announces its Silver Anniversary Phippen Western Art Show and Sale to be held outdoors at the Courthouse Plaza in downtown Prescott, Arizona, May 29 to 31, 1999. The public is invited and there is no charge for admission.

Artists from across the nation will participate in this highly publicized juried show, and several artists of note will be returning for the 25th Anniversary Show. Festivities will include the popular Quick Draw and Auction, as well as a private artists' reception. Awards will be given in each ofthe following categories of fine "Art of the West:" Traditional Sculpture, Oil, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Drawing, and Contemporary Sculpture.

For the 1999 event, the Museum will host a Silver Anniversary Show and Sale at the Museum as part of the festivities surrounding the 25th Annual Show. All of the award winning artists from the first 24 shows will be invited to exhibit and sell a miniature piece of art. A gala cocktail party for ticket holders and VIPs from around the State will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, May 29 at the Museum.

Artists' applications will be accepted until the show is full; however, interested artists should apply for entry as soon as possible as spaces for the Show are limited to only 144 artists.

A limited edition Show Poster by Colorado artist Ramon Kelley will be available for purchase by patrons. The poster is titled "Pueblo Indian, Taos Pueblo." The original Ramon Kelley painting will also be sold at the Show. Right: Ramon Kelley, Pueblo Indian, Taos Pueblo, oil, 14 x 18 inches
